It’s a second straight season that Mourinho and Roma will end their campaign in a European final, after winning the inaugural Europa Conference League this time last year. Doing so made Mourinho the first manager to win all three of the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
Sevilla are no strangers to winning European trophies themselves, having won the Europa League an astonishing four times in the last nine seasons, with a chance to make it five in 10. Either way that Wednesday’s final goes, it will simply be another notch in the belt of Sevilla, or the master Mourinho.

Sevilla and Roma will face off in the final of the UEFA Europa League 2022-23 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary on Thursday.
The Sevilla vs Roma UEL final will start at 12:30 AM IST. The football match will be live streamed in India.
For Roma, the UEL final on Thursday will be their second European final in successive years. The Rome club won the inaugural Europa Conference League trophy last season with a 1-0 win over Feyenoord.
A win in the UEFA Europa League final will make Jose Mourinho the first manager to win this competition with three different sides. The Portuguese manager, earlier, won the Europa League trophy with Porto (2002-03) and Manchester United (2016-17).
En route to the final, the Italian club finished second in Group C to progress to the knockouts. Roma beat RB Leipzig in the playoffs and knocked out Real Sociedad in the round of 16. In the quarter-finals, they eliminated Feyenoord before stunning Bayer Leverkusen to reach the final.
Placed sixth in the Italian league standings and out of contention for a spot in the UEFA Champions League 2023-24, a win over Sevilla in the Europa League final will propel Roma directly into Europe’s elite club competition next year.
Meanwhile, Sevilla will come into the final as the most successful club in the competition, having won the UEFA Europa League trophy six times (2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020). The Spanish team has never lost a Europa League final.
Despite their domestic struggles, Sevilla defeated European giants Manchester United and Juventus on their way to the Europa League final. Under the management of Jose Luis Mendilibar, Sevilla, who are currently 11th in La Liga, will look to end their season on a high with another European title under their belt and their undefeated streak in UEL finals intact.
